In 1986, record industry veteran Marshall Blonstein founded DCC Compact Classics and led that label as its President up until a year ago. Now Blonstein is back with a newly formed audiophile label named Audio Fidelity.

Blonstein says he missed the audiophile market and is very excited to be returning to it via Audio Fidelity. To kick off the new label, Blonstein will be releasing a series of Classic Jazz and Pop titles on Hybrid SACD starting next month.

The major labels have been busy re-mastering their older best-sellers into high resolution formats for re-release. Audio Fidelity (http://www.audiofidelity.net) is an independent label that has bought the rights to some golden oldie albums for similar treatment. This allows the label to enter the market with material that has an established audience, and it allows us would-be consumers access to established material that would otherwise languish in the pre-CD category.

  • Audio Fidelity uses Steve Hoffman to bring out the inherent qualities of the debut classic from The Band on this remastered AF Gold Disc series CD.  And as his skills always produces a sterling edition of a classic, so it enhances the quality of this S/T album by The Band that gave us "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" as well as "Up On Cripple Creek."
