Elvis, A Generous Heart
DVD (SP9936)
SRP: $9.98
|
Following up the success of our first Elvis DVD, "Elvis Presley..From the Beginning to the End" comes, " Elvis... A Generous Heart." Elvis is without a doubt the most beloved, idolized legendary star in history. Through his music, live performances and his films he brought joy to millions of people around the world. But for all his accomplishments as an entertainer perhaps his greatest legacy was his enormous generosity. The new DVD, "Elvis...A Generous Heart" examines his wonderful legacy of generosity.
Some examples;
- The legendary "Aloha from Hawaii"
concert in 1973 raised more than $75,000
for cancer research.
- In 1964 Elvis purchased the FDR presidential
yacht and donated it to St. Jude's Children's
Research Hospital, who in turn raised $55,000
for research upon it's sale.
- Elvis Presley was the single largest private
contributor to the Pearl Harbor Memorial
site in Hawaii.
- In 1975 he gave a concert in Jackson,
Mississippi to raise funds for the victims of
a tornado in his native state. As a child Elvis
had witnessed the devastation of a tornado.
- In 1968 Elvis auctioned one of his Rolls
Royces to raise money for a charity that aided
mentally handicapped children.
The list of his generous acts goes on and
on and on. Through the use of new interviews,
new on-location filming, classic footage and
photos, "Elvis... A Generous Heart" will be
one of the most definitive films ever made
about the great generosity and kindness of
the King, Elvis Presley. |

| First came Punk, with its'
raw roughness, and that evolved into New Wave. Rock and
Roll had its' energy back. It had its' energy and it was
rebellious again. The music rose up from everywhere across
the nation and throughout Europe. It was fresh, exciting,
raw and it rocked. The center of this music was New York,
and in New York the center of this music was Hurrah. A
small New York club, Hurrah was one of the epic centers
of the new sound. This collection, Back In The Day…Live
At Hurrahs, captures that explosive period. The one thing
that they all had in common was, collectively, they changed
the course of musical history. This DVD collection of
30 live performances (digitally remastered for picture
and sound quality) captures the energy and spirit of the
bands, the people and the music that brought Rock and
Roll back to its' roots. |

Artist: The Beatles
Title: From the Beginning...to
the End
Catalog #: SP 9906
SRP: $9.98 |
Beginning the their first performance
in Liverpool and Hamburg nightclubs, this documentary
- now available for the first time on DVD - follows
the incredible rise of The Beatles to a worldwide phenomenon.
You can feel the excitement and witness the hysteria
surrounding their first trip to the United States for
an appearance on the "Ed Sullivan Show". A
performance that first exposed the four mop-tops to
a North American Audience. There are many "behind
the scenes" insights into the group giving us a
glimpse into John, Paul, George and Ringo rarely seen.
We follow the boys on their journey through their first
film, "A Hard Days Night," through an offhand
remark by John Lennon that was so controversial; it
caused many to boycott the band's records. The journey
continues through the recording of "Sergeant Pepper's
Lonely Hearts Club Band," as we watch John, Paul,
George and Ringo experiment with psychedelia and meditation
before eventually embarking on separate musical and
personal paths. |
| We meet Yoko Ono as she enters John's
life and eventually that of The Beatles. We follow John&
Yoko through their "Bed-In" for peace and
the controversy that followed their relationship.
This DVD documents the energy of the '60s, the idealism
of the '70s and - for some - the disillusionment of
the '80s. Our saga ends tragically with John's death
and John looking back and answering questions on life,
drugs and peace. It's a stirring tribute to four boys
from Liverpool who conquered the world and changed the
direction of popular music forever. |
